There are 20 Wine Regions in Italy and it would take a lifetime to understand the nuances of them all. Within each region there is a comprehensive array of DOCG, DOC and IGT wine to explore but I don’t want my Scotch drinking time to suffer or my funds to deplete to the point where I can’t continue my important “research”!
For those of you who share my thirst for knowledge of all things wine, the Wine Folly Blog is a great place to start:

I could never do justice to all the regions in Italy as it would take far too time and drinking which might affect my day job, the source of funds for my passions. I decided to concentrate on Tuscany, Veneto ( specifically Valpolicella ) , Piedmonte ( Piedmont ) and Apulia ( Puglia ) as these regions produce some of the most recognizable wines to us North Americans and we can easily can get out mitts on them. They also represent a great cross section of the many Italian styles so there will be something to suit every taste and budget.
